A Little Personal History:

Living in Castle Pines Village, CO, often frequenting the Country Club for golf, lunch, dinner and other activities, my girls and I loved the famous “Castle Pines” milkshake. For my youngest, Erica, it became her favorite dessert/treat. She left me no choice but to discover the “secret” recipe 😉

Description:

Categories: Dessert
Servings: 2 serving
Time: – Preparation:    5 minutes
– Blending:         5 minutes
Equipment: Measuring cups and spoons, 1 small mixing bowl, 1 medium mixing bowl, potato masher or large spoon, blender
Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups half & half cream
  • ½ cup confectionery sugar or granulated sugar, ground fine
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups high quality vanilla ice cream (at least 30% fat)
  • 2 cherries

Procedure:

  1. In small mixing bowl, mix cream, sugar, and extract. Whisk together till completely blended. Set aside.
  2. In medium bowl, add ice cream and mash with spoon or potato masher until softened.
  3. Transfer both bowls to blender. Blend all ingredients, on low, until smooth
  4. Pour in tall glasses and serve with straws and a cherry on top.

Advanced Preparation:

  • Step 1 can be done in advance, sealed and refrigerated till needed.

Tips, Notes, and Variations:

  • For different types of shakes, add ingredients to ice cream before mashing (step 2):
    • Chocolate Shake: add ½ cup Coca Powder
    • Strawberry Shake: ½ cup fresh/frozen strawberries
    • Peach Shake: ½ cup fresh/frozen peaches
    • etc, etc.
  • This recipe is not for the weight conscious. Feel free to substitute low-fat milk or sugar substitutes, just don’t blame me if it doesn’t quite taste the same.
